When I began practicing Bikram Yoga seven years ago, I had no idea how much it would change my life. As I fell in love with the intensity of the heat, the meditative aspect, the joy and wonder of flexibility, patience and breathing, this yoga also infused my music career.
I am a pianist – a self-taught child prodigy who writes and sings original music and performs improvisational covers. I have a gift at the piano, but have worked hard to gain the confidence and clarity to successfully pursue my dream of being an internationally-known performer.
My yoga practice has positively impacted my approach to music. I've become more steadfast, clear, calm and present. I am able to slow things down and focus in a way that was not possible before. I've boosted my energy levels and have elevated the spirited way that I perform, as far as stamina and strength.
The healing benefits of Bikram have also continued to flow into my daily life. My diet has changed and I’ve lost a tremendous amount of weight. The awareness we need to stay focused in our yoga class makes it easier for me to be aware of everything else. I'm also more honest with myself. I’ve even used the breathing exercises when faced with stressful situations.
This yoga has become part of my lifestyle and I'll continue to do this practice for the rest of my life. Every class is another magical opportunity for me to bring sensitivity, positivity, healing and the wonderful energy of our 90 minute yoga experience into my work, life and my soul.
